Timeline

The success story of Köhler GmbH began in 1963 with the founding of Lehrmittelanstalt Köhler in Koblenz. Eberhard C. Köhler, the father of the current Managing Director Winfried Köhler, specializes in the sale of teaching and learning materials and the production of insect collections. The majority of customers at this time are schools. From 1965, the development of a chemicals program begins, which is continuously expanded.

In 1988, "Eberhard C. Köhler Chemikaliengroßhandlung" is founded. The product range is expanded to include the in-house filling of laboratory chemicals and the sale of consumables for schools. The customer base grows to include industry, research laboratories and university institutes.

After 11 successful years, Winfried Köhler takes over as managing owner of the company in 1999. In the same year, the company moves to larger premises in KO-Wallersheim. In addition to teaching and learning materials and chemicals, Köhler also establishes itself as a laboratory dealer and sets up its first laboratories with its own technicians.

The space in KO-Wallersheim also soon becomes too small due to the high demand from the growing customer base. After changing the company's name to Köhler GmbH Labor + Lehrmittel Vertrieb, the company moves to larger premises in KO-Bubenheim.

In the following years, Köhler GmbH continues to expand and becomes a partner to numerous major customers. In 2004, Köhler is accepted as a supplier to Siemens Power Generation.

The first delivery of laboratory containers, which were set up and equipped by Köhler GmbH, will be made to Bahrain and Nigeria in 2005. The containers are equipped with devices and working materials and are used, among other things, for investigations in power plants. Many sewage treatment plant laboratories are set up and equipped by Köhler's own fitters. Further large projects with installations in France, Holland and Belgium are completed for Siemens.

From 2009, the sales branch for sewage treatment plants is expanded and a sales representative for Hesse is appointed. We continue to handle major projects at home and abroad - with Köttermann as our partner as a manufacturer of steel laboratory furniture. Even unusual laboratory furniture requests and laboratory plans can be realized together with Köttermann. In 2011, Köhler GmbH set up laboratories for the University of Koblenz on 3 floors of 1,000 square meters each.

In 2013, Köhler GmbH celebrates its 25th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the first in-house exhibition is held in Mainz. The event is a complete success and marks the start of further in-house exhibitions.

In 2015, Köhler GmbH held its 2nd in-house exhibition under the name LISAA - Laboratory Exhibition for Industry, Schools, Wastewater and Pharmacies in Koblenz. Exhibitors and visitors use the in-house exhibition to find out about the wide range of products and services on offer in the industry.

From 2017, Köhler GmbH is expanding its product range to include pharmacy supplies. The expanded range for pharmacies primarily includes consumables and packaging materials.

In 2019, the company moves to Andernach and inaugurates the new premises with the 3rd in-house exhibition. In addition to a light-flooded open-plan office, the new offices also offer space for a conference room for on-site and online meetings and a lounge. The warehouse and yard area offer enough space to manufacture several laboratory containers on site at the same time.
